Phantom Ribbon, Clint Reidel, Jay Leslie's House Of Enchantment
Phantom Ribbon was originally designed by Clint Reidel. Jim swoger paid a small fortune to buy the rights. Now, because I've inherited the whole ball of wax I am remaking this very attractive effect. I'm not calling it attractive because you'll want to take it to the movies, or anything like that, but it's is very eye catching. You won't be able to take your eyes off it. The materials used are layered on, causing a three dimensional appearance. And it looks 21st century!

YES It uses thread
YES It uses wax
YES It has a fake
YES it has a secret opening
YES you do the "move" right under their eyes
YES It uses rubber bands
NO You don't hand out all the parts. You show them only what you want them to see.

But guess what? It looks like real magic. Show the parts, thread the ribbon through and amazingly pull the sheet free, like magic,

Ok, what do we have. The magician shows the panel. He drops it down the goal posts. The ribbon is threaded through. The ribbon is slid back and forth to show that it's really in there. Ahhh, the panel is removed anyway. MMmmmm, can I do this. Yes I can. I bet I can even give it a patter line like "Nothing is impossible. Or Solid through solid. Heck. I'm smart, I can fool all the guys at the club. All I have to do is pick out a nice piece of music and it's almost self working."
To the left is a picture of the fake. Keep it a secret.

To the right is a picture of the hole. Notice how three parts make up the panel. We start with a black sheet and add the gray & red cut outs separately. It's thick and chunky, folks.

But wait, there's more. What you don't see is hole design on the reverse side of the panel. We offset the graphics around the hole so when the panel is sitting all the way down against the fake it looks perfectly normal. If you don't know what we're talking about, take our word for it, you'll love the extra touch.

Think about it. Every other ribbon trick. of this modus operandi, uses a clear panel. We decided to make ours solid. With the clear panel the audience needs to be sitting relatively close. With our colorful panel the audience can be over a hundred feet back and see the details of the effect very well.
