Produced by Jay Leslie. September 2001 Frankly we didn't know what to call it because the tube is a mailbox shape as opposed to the traditional circle. We did this because the old fashioned tube doesn't hold the load capacity that our new design holds. The back of the tube (and gimmick) are squared but the round shape in the front is retained so as to defract light entering through the box. The reason we did this was to increase the load capacity. A second benefit is that the tube won't roll off of your table if set down. Both visible parts are made from PVC plastic. One more important item to mention. The square box is cut out all on all four bottom sides. The audience can see completely under the square portion of the box! (Gimmick IS in the box for the photo.) Look at the second photo. Even thought the gimmick is in place it really appears the box is empty. After the tube is replaced in the box, any number of items may be produced. You can even produce a small rabbit! The next tricky element we want to call your attention to is the deceptive design on the two sides of the box attached to the front . Look at the bottom right photo. When the tube is removed the performer may turn the box at an angle and the audience believes they are seeing through two sides of the box. it's so deceptive that it even fools us while we are constructing the box. The photo is not retouched. Can you tell where the real side is? The tube stands 12 inches high and the box is 8 inches wide/deep. Square Circle Deluxe $110.00 |
