Visable Sucker vanish, Jay Leslie's House Of Enchantment
Use doves, a 10 pound rabbit or even a dog in this modern illusion but not all at the same time! The rabbit in the photo weighs 4 pounds.

The original effect was advertized circa 1937 in the Linking Ring by Tiny's Magic Company (as best I can find) called Tiny's Million Dollar Rabbit Vanish. Effect: The lid is opened. Livestock is placed inside. It's plainly seen through the large see-through window in the front of the cabinet. The magician waves his hand and the livestock visably vanishes. The audience has an unobstructed view as the livestock vanishes. The lid is removed, plainly showing it on both sides. Four panels, making up the sides of the cabinet are unasembled, showing them on both sides. The base is flipped around showing bothe sides. The bottom is removed & shown on both sides. The audience is suspitious of the large frame , with the yellow decorations so the magician picks it up, and in the process, the audience sees the fur of the beast (or wing of bird) The criss-cross panels are then pressed flat and twirled around showing no room for a nat to be hidden. As an option, the cloth covered your table wiggles and the audience demands to see under the table. After acting like you don't see it, the cloth is removed and slowly drawn through your hands with your arms slowly opening which is an automatic applause cue.... because you just fooled the heck out of the audience. The livestock can be reproduced from somewhere else if you want.

I used one of the original props in hundreds of school shows. It always commanded a fantastic response. As time went on I created a dozen needed imporvements. The model presented here is the totality of improvements. Here are the features that show how well this prop is made.

#1.
Slight concave shapes are cut into the bottoms of the cris-cross panels making for a stable base.
# 2.
Both criss cross panels have a tight tolerance, where they connect, making a much firmer support for the upper cabinet.
# 3. Relief holes are machined in the base allowing machined tabs from the criss cross panels to hold the cabinet steady.
#3. Rabbit ear style graphics are separatly machined then applied to 4 sides of the criss cross panels. These graphics, which look much better than the flat black panels of the original, help create the impression that livestock is hiding behind them.

# 5. Two different fakes are supplied for dove or rabbit workers. Take a few loose feathers or fur that's fallen from your pet and glue them to the appropriate fake, making the fake look realistic.
# 6. Rails are added to the base (both outside and inside) as opposed to cuting a groove half way through as in the original. These rails hold the cabinet panels nicely in place.
# 7. CNC machined panels that fit like they're supposed to.
# 8. The outer window, designed on a computer, is as large as possible allowing the audience sitting close up or a few hundred feet away to see the action.
# 9. The load chamber is aproximatly 12 inches by 5 by 7 tall. I am estimating that a 9 to 11 pound rabbit will fit in the load compartment because the rabbit in the photo only takes up one third of the availible space and it only weighs less than 4 pounds.
# 10. There is a different design on the outside and inside of the lid. When you flip the lid over to remove same, the different designs register with the audeince so they're aware they've seen both sides without saying a single word.
# 11. The entire unit packs in a space 16 X 11.5 X 9 and when set up looks like a million dollars.
# 12. The most important improvement is a locking laod chamber with an air/finger hole on top. The original model had an open top and the rabbit would try to escape ( actually it did get out a few times ) but now you're in control without fear of the rabbit giving the secret away.
# 13. The hinges between the frame and the lid are larger. They are placed so the lid can copmletly ope without any pressure between the lid and the frame on top.
# 6 The fake is shown above.
# 1 Panels are cut with relief for satability.
